David spoke about an article found in The Rotarian about Youth Building Projects within mixed cultures that are funded by The Rotary Foundation.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS
David T:  
- No meeting next Monday due to Family Day
- Feb 23 will be a Pub Night at King Henry's Arms from 6-8.  Please RSVP asap to Nash and/or Anders
- Board will meet on Wednesday at Marshall's at 6:30
- The Newmarket Club has extended an invitation to the March 12 meeting at the Voyager Hotel.  The speaker will be Tom Deans.  Please RSVP to Ted Bird.
- The Newmarket and Aurora Clubs have extended a bowling challenge to all clubs in York Region to set up a bowling team(s) on March 28 in support of Big Brothers/Sisters.  Anyone not participating in our Progressive Dinner should try to attend.
 
Paul V:

- May 7 is the Tree Planting at Oak Ridges.  It is planned to set up the club tent and distribute hot dogs.  More details to follow.
- April 25 is the Kids Against Hunger meal packing event.  11,000 meals are planned to be packaged.  Please mark your calendars and plan on attending.
 
Arja/Anders:
- Thank you to the team who came out and supported our BBQ'ing at the Winter Carnival.  The entire carnival is run by volunteers and it was a great success.
 
Paul T:
- April 30 is a gala "Truth & Reconciliation & Engagement" which will support Chippewa Youth Education.  Black Tie.  Go to www.ciecyr.ca for more details.
 
Hira:
- Presented a cheque of $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation from Fidelity Investments.  Thank you Hira!
 
David T:
- Unfortunately our speaker for the evening has not shown up.  Stay tuned for the Foodie Truck Fundraising initiative at a future meeting.
 
Emmanuel:
- As President Elect, Dr Abara spoke about future plans to collaborate, grow and strengthen our club for the coming year.  All Directors will have co-chairs and committee members so that all members are engaged.  
- Will be looking at an international project for our club to lead.
- Looking at innovations in club meetings/procedures - for instance looking at pilot projects to utilize more social media platforms, electronic meetings, having an Advisory Team from the senior members of the club, etc.
