ANNOUNCEMENTS
David T:
- Jan 26 meeting Brian Berger will be speaking about Palliative Care - it will be a spousal night - RSVPs required
- Feb 2 meeting will be cheque presentation night from TV Auction - spousal night - RSVPs required
- Feb 9 meeting Suresh Doss will be speaking about a Food Truck Fundraising initiative
- Announced that Jay and Maryse have resigned from the club
 
Arja:
- Reminder Winter Carnival will be Feb 6/7/8 at Mill Pond.  Our club will be BBQ'ing Saturday.  Please let Arja know if you can participate.  
- At Winter Carnival we can enter a team for a Bed Race.  Enough members indicated interest, so we will be entering a team.  Details to follow.
 
DIRECTORS' REPORTS:
Club Service, Treasurer Report, and Vocational Service Report will be presented at another meeting upon the return of Nash, Richard and Jason
 
Community Service - Paul V and Ted
- Already reported to the club in November, but additionally would like to plan a Rotary Day at Rotary Park sometime in June.  The program will be geared toward families -- perhaps a BBQ, kids bouncy castle etc. They are looking for volunteers for a committee to organize.  Any ideas for activities are welcome.
 
International Service - Gordon
- The Adopt a Village in Laos program has been running smoothly and a speaker will be coming to a future meeting to present our progress
- 20 water purification & filtration systems at $75/each have been purchased and sent
- Last year we cooperated with World Vision and bought a couple of goats; this year we have purchased some goats, roosters and chickens
- Ongoing funds are currently being sent to the school in Philippines from our weekly 50/50 draw
- Other projects currently under investigation are:  a mine clearance project, a water project in Uganda and wells in Cambodia
- Gordon asks if anyone in the club has suggestions for any projects to please feel free to contact him
 
Youth Service - Steve
- The Interact Club at Bayview has been very active and have plans through until June including:
    - will contribute to our water purification/filtration in Laos
    - in Feb will go to Brookfield Retirement Centre to host a craft show and a talent show for the seniors' enjoyment
    - in March will participate with Paul/Ted's food packing program for Kids Against Hunger
    - March 10 will be another blood drive.  Hillcrest was so impressed with them last fall that they will be sending a bus to pick up donors at the school.  Anyone interested in making a blood donation is welcome
    - in April will participate in Annual Tree Planting
    - in Spring will participate in clean-up of Rotary Park
    - in June will do another Locks of Kindness (hair for cancer patients)
    - May 7-10 will be doing Camp Enterprise
- There are approx 20-30 Interactors, obviously very active and committed.  Peter asked if Steve could provide some photos for posting on our website.
 
Treasurer Report - The financial statements were handed out in Richard's absence and will be discussed another time
