Golf Tournament -June 17 , 2014
Cyril reminded us that this tournament will be in the place of a meeting for the Club that week. If you are unable to play-please come for the dinner. There are 30 spots left and there will be a need for volunteers as well. There is the potential to make a good profit if we can get enough sponsors.

Special speaker- Tom Manimanakis

David introduced Tom- the owner of Ethos Asset Management.

Fundraising Initiatives
Tom is usually hired to assess value to items that people donate to charities. With his three other employees they have a combined total of 60 years experience. They do
Live/online auctions
Liquidation sales
Wholesale brokering
Appraisal services.
Our Goal is to Remanage, Re-Purpose and Recycle

New purpose is to help charities. Challenges for them today are
Decline in fundraising
Decline in govt. funding
Slow economy
Credibility
Increased demand
Strict rules

What do we do now? We look to businesses with surplus goods and try to repurpose these goods with the charities helping to sell and getting a percentage from these sales.
Overall benefits- the Corporations get a higher value for their surplus goods while having reduced write-offs. The Corporation also maintains a stronger socially responsible image.
Benefit to charity is increased funding, more public exposure and a positive relationship with Corporate sponsors.

Why are we doing this?
Principle-The time is always right to do what is right.

Purpose- You must be the change.

Susan thanked Tom. She knows him to be a very ethical, imaginative person and has positive sales experiences.

50/50 winner- Glen
