A recipient in Grand Bend was awarded the Service Above Self Award, RI's highest honour, for the Global Literacy Project.  York Region Board of Education has agreed to contribute some supplies for us to contribute to this project.

- At the recent board meeting, the purchase of a new tent was approved.  
- The Christmas Party this year will be held at the
Oakview Terrace on December 15.  Further details to follow.  
- Condolences are extended to
Maryse Francella and her family on the recent passing of her father-in-law.  
- Reminder to enter your auction items into the system
asap.  
- The Foundation Walk in Toronto was held on Sunday with unofficial total funds raised of $110,000. 

Anu - She will donate a bottle of wine each month to the individual who enters the most items into the Auction system for that month.

Steve - Met with Interactors of Bayview executive who are very excited about their projects for the coming year.  Reminder that they are looking for speakers in the non-profit, health & wellness, and environmental sectors for their Career Expo Oct 21-24.  Please get the word out and contact chanthanat.simran@gmail.com directly.

Emmanuel - Sunday Nov 9 will be the Festival of Praise and Remembrance concert honouring our vets.  Tickets are $25/adult, $20/senior/child.  Please reserve your seats now.

David T - The End Polio effort is now more than ever underway led by Wilf Wilkinson and Bob Scott.  They are on a mission to get government agencies in Canada to raise awareness of the campaign. This effort has been recognized by Stephen Harper.  Also reminder that Oct 24 is End Polio Day in Canada and at 11:00 am in Toronto, the End Polio flag will be raised at City Hall.  Please make an effort to be there.  It is also our Club's day to hand out information flyers at the R'Hill GO Station.  Please volunteer - let David T know if you can come.

David T - The speaker for the evening, DG Brian Thompson, had to cancel due to a personal matter and sends his apologies.  However, we had a very special event planned as well, with the induction of 5 new members.  Four new members will be attending the Satellite Club:  Ismet Dossal, Saleh Jaleel, Angel Morales and Alam Khwaja.  Dave Morrison (formerly of the Newmarket Club) will be joining the main R'Hill Club.  

A warm welcome to all new members was extended by all.
