Council Supports Richmond Hill Rotary Club

In support of the Rotary Club of Richmond Hill hosting its District Conference in October 2012, Council approved sponsoring the conference in the amount of $15,000. Council received a presentation from Rotary Club of Richmond Hill members Ted Koziel, District Governor for Rotary International, and Paul Vyrostko, Co-chair for the District Conference 2012, outlining the purpose and benefits of the conference to Council. They informed Council that the District 7070-7080 Conference will have a theme of "A Kaleidoscope of Rotary" and will include an estimated 800 attendees covering areas from Belleville to Woodstock and Toronto to Alliston. The Rotary members also predicted an influx of approximately $200,000 into the local economy from the attendees. The District Conference will also coincide with the Rotary Club of Richmond Hill's 60th anniversary and Rotary Club International's 100th anniversary. The Rotary Club of Richmond Hill has been a fixture at Richmond Hill community and charitable events for almost 60 years, providing business and social services to those in need. For 31 years they have hosted a live televised auction on local cable, raising almost $2,000,000 to date for local charities.
