Below is a list of Club activities and positions/committees with a brief description of each.
Local community events:
Food Bank Support
From time to time, we actively support the Richmond Hill Food Bank by providing volunteers to assist with daily operations, including sorting and packing food items.
In addition, we organize fundraising initiatives twice a year, collecting food, essential supplies, and financial contributions to help those in need within our community. We are proud to contribute to making a positive impact and supporting families in need.
Hill House Hospice Support
The Rotary Club of Richmond Hill is a strong supporter of Hill House Hospice. We conduct fundraising activities throughout the year to help cover operational costs and contribute to their expansion programs, ensuring continued compassionate care for those in need.
Terry Fox Run
The Terry Fox Run is an annual, non-competitive charity event held in memory of Canadian cancer activist Terry Fox and his inspiring Marathon of Hope.
This meaningful event brings communities together to raise funds for cancer research and to continue Terry’s legacy of hope, courage, and determination.
Vocational Scholarships
Each year, we proudly support students in our community by awarding vocational scholarships to outstanding individuals across seven local high schools.
Each selected student receives $500 in recognition of their achievements and to encourage them to pursue their future goals and career aspirations.
Winter Carnival – Pancake Breakfast
There’s something uniquely Canadian about a community pancake breakfast, and the Sunday morning tradition at the Richmond Hill Winter Carnival is a true highlight.
Each year, members of the Rotary Club of Richmond Hill come together in the Main Tent to serve up delicious platefuls of pancakes to families and friends. With pancakes, syrup, back bacon, hot coffee or chocolate, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, it’s a wonderful way to start a Sunday morning in February.
This cherished event brings the community together and showcases the spirit of service and fellowship that Rotary is known for.
Rotary Leadership Institute
The Rotary Leadership Institute offers three levels of interactive seminars focused on developing leadership skills and deepening understanding of Rotary.
Conducted by District 7070, these sessions provide valuable learning opportunities for members to grow as leaders, enhance their impact, and strengthen their contribution to the community.
Foundation Walk
The Foundation Walk is a community-focused Sunday morning event that brings people together for a refreshing walk followed by a great BBQ lunch.
This event raises funds for the Rotary International Foundation’s Polio Plus program, supporting global efforts to eradicate polio and improve public health worldwide.
Oak Ridge’s Tree Planting Program
Each year, in collaboration with Friends of TD and local Richmond Hill schools, we engage young students in planting hundreds of trees, shrubs, and plants.
This initiative promotes environmental stewardship and raises community awareness about conservation, while helping to create a greener and more sustainable future.
